Brand new Customer Lounge recently completed for intu Metrocentre & Go Smarter, situated in Lower Blue Mall at the base of the Bus/Train Station escalators.


Technical Specifications

  • The existing unit's densely framed glazing replaced with a large frameless shopfront to allow customers to see clearly the services provided & to attract visitors.
  • Purpose designed bespoke furniture to suit the specific requirements of each service offered.
  • Finishes selected for a clean contemporary appearance with high durability.
  • Energy efficient, attractive & inviting lighting scheme.
  • Eye-catching signage design.

Project Details

Customer Services facilities are provided here by intu alongside the intu Metrocentre Recruitment Team and Go Smarter Travel Coordinators. Go Smarter is a sustainable transport campaign which encourages customers, retailers and staff travel to work in a more sustainable way. The new lounge also allows shoppers at the centre a place to relax with the daily newspapers, surf the internet on a specially designed ipad unit & recharge your phone. Bespoke furniture designs were produced in collaboration with our appointed specialist consultant “Contents Design”.


The project was a finalist in the 2016 Northern Regional LABC Building Excellence Awards in the categories of "Best Public Service Building" & "Best Small Commercial Building"
